The idea for sanctum came from the actual cigar box. The use of religious medals just made sense.
This piece was done after I visited Ravenna in Italy in 2015, hence the floor patterning.
Ravenna historically is at the junction of Orthodox and Roman Catholicism, so although unified in one set of images, to the informed there is a discord.
